Hillarys blinds come in a wide range of fabrics and materials, suitable for different locations throughout your home, simply make an appointment with your local Hillarys advisor for help on selecting the right blind for your needs.
Once you’ve purchased your blinds from Hillarys, you’ll want to keep them looking as perfect as the day they were installed. Simply follow our useful hints and cleaning tips to make sure your blinds stay stunning, for many years to come.
The best way to keep your blinds in tip-top condition is to dust them regularly and prevent dirt building up. Use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth and gently wipe over the fabrics. Be careful not to press on too hard, especially on pleated fabrics, rollers and accessories. Or, if you prefer, all our Romans and Vertical blinds can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner fitted with an upholstery tool.
Depending on the fabric, our Vertical blinds can either be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, or are machine washable. It’s important that you double-check the correct cleaning method for your blind before you begin. If you are in any doubt, then please check with your advisor, or contact Hillarys for advice.
Lay the louvres individually on a flat surface and, using a mild detergent, gently wipe each one from top to bottom with a slightly damp cloth. Do not rub too hard and do not spot clean.
Lay your louvres flat and tightly roll them without creases. Be careful to keep them straight and tie them together, place them in a pillowcase and knot it shut to hold them in place. Wash one roll at a time without other laundry. Use a mild detergent and wash them on the woollens cycle at a maximum of 40degrees. Cancel the final rinse, and do not spin them.
Stand the tied roll on the side to allow excess water to drain away, then unroll the louvres and allow them to drop dry ’ it’s best to do this by hanging them over the bath or shower.
A large number of Roman fabrics can be dry cleaned, but we recommend you check the labels on your blind, ask your advisor or contact Hillarys for advice before you begin. You will need to remove the fabric from the headrail before it can be dry-cleaned ’ take care to note how the cords are threaded to ensure you can re-attach the fabric afterwards.
Regular dusting with a clean, lint free cloth or gentle hoovering are pretty much all these blinds need to stay at their best.
Aluminium blinds can also be wiped with a clean, damp cloth and mild detergent, or for a more thorough spring clean, they can be immersed in a bath of warm water and mild detergent. Be sure to let them dry thorough before re-hanging.
